Curious about how buying and selling goes on Vinted? Discover everything you want to know about Vinted including my own experiences. The marketplace for selling women's, men's and children's clothing, toys and home goods.
Vinted is a marketplace for buying and selling second-hand items, with a focus on clothing. This makes it a sustainable way to give clothing a new life. One of the many initiatives to breathe new life into preowned fashion. The place to be for buyers and sellers.
Vinted operates worldwide and now has more than 37 million users. There are offices in the US, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Great Britain and many more European countries. What started as the sale of second-hand clothing in 2008 has grown into a large concern with no fewer than 500 employees.
Vinted actually works very easily. You create a free account and you can get started. This is possible as a seller as well as a buyer. Some safety valves have been built in for both the buyer and seller, so that you will not end up empty-handed while you have bought or sold something. It is important that you do everything through Vinted, so do not make agreements with buyers or sellers outside of Vinted.
Do you have a closet full of clothes that you don't know what to do with? Is your child growing like a weed? Or have you got the spring fever and cleaned up your house? Don't be left with surplus second-hand items, but give them a second life through Vinted. Put everything you have for sale.
Selling on Vinted is as follows:
The buyer pays the shipping costs. You indicate in advance the size of the package and Vinted automatically adds various shipping options for the buyer (Homer, DPD, DHL, Post.nl). You as the seller will be kept informed of the entire process, with the buyer as the buyer.
Have you sold a product? Then you create a so-called shipping label. You can print this or have it scanned at the postal drop-off point. From the moment your package has been accepted at the shipping point, you will receive an email that it is being processed. You will also receive an email when it has arrived at the collection point.
The buyer has 2 days after receiving the package to respond. If there is no response, your money will be automatically transferred to your wallet. If the buyer responds within two days and there appears to be a dispute, this will be resolved in Vinted.
After handling everything, the buyer can write a review about their experience with you. The same applies the other way around:you as a seller can also write a review about the buyer.
Buying on Vinted is as easy as selling. You will also be guided through everything very easily in this process. You can easily search on Vinted via the search function. That way you can search for a specific item, a specific size or, for example, color. It is possible to make an offer if you think the asking price is too high. You also have the option to chat with the seller for more information.
If you have purchased an item, you must first select a shipping method. Then you pay with the payment method you prefer. Keep in mind that 0.70 and 5% of the sale price of the item is added per transaction. This money serves as buyer protection and is an extra security for the buyer.
From the moment of purchase you can see exactly what happens to your product. You will receive an email when the seller has offered the package at the shipping point until you can pick up the package. If everything is to your liking, the seller will receive his or her money 2 days after you have picked up the package.
After the purchase you can leave a review for the seller. In turn, this person can also leave a review for you as a buyer.
Yes, Vinted is a safe platform where you can buy used products, IF you do everything through Vinted. You sometimes hear of people complaining about being scammed. However, this only happens if you meet buyers or sellers outside of Vinted. As long as you do everything via Vinted, you are protected as a seller and buyer.
So make sure that you do not make any appointments via Whats app or privately. Always let a buyer pay via Vinted and not in any other way, even if the buyer continues to insist.
I now have more than 200 articles on Vinted. Here you will find my account. Mainly clothes, some toys, jewelry and games. Quite a few have already been sold and I have to say that I only have good experiences. There was a buyer who had given me a negative review, because she thought the product was broken. However, she did not take a good look, since the product was supposed to be like that. After chatting back and forth, she deleted her review. This was really the only negative experience I've had.
The sale is going smoothly. I have now put my items on display for a week (there was a 30% discount on this amount due to Easter) and I am satisfied with the number of sales that resulted. I have already requested a payout once and the money from my wallet was in the account within 1 day. I always make sure that items are shipped the same or within 1 – 2 days. I have noticed that buyers really like this.
My daughter once bought a bag of clothes through Vinted. She had this sent via Homerr. This took quite a while, but that was not the fault of the seller. The clothes matched the description and were very beautiful. The entire purchase process went smoothly and quickly.
As you can see, we have only had good experiences with Vinted. But again:I only work through Vinted and not outside of it.
