Soon it will be Father's Day again. Whether you're looking for a gift for the father of your children or your own (step or bonus) father, buying a gift for a man can be tricky. Looking for a Father's Day gift? Surprise father with a pair of shoes
If you need a gift for a woman, you probably won't have to think twice. Okay, maybe if you're a man, but in general, finding a gift for a woman is much easier. A gift for a man, on the other hand, is a lot harder to find. Because what do you give the father of your children or your own (bonus or step) father as a present? Will it be a tool again? Something for the garden or do you opt for convenience and give him a gift voucher? Almost as cliché as baking or cooking items as gifts for the woman, are bbq items for the man. So, what should you give for Father's Day?
Look no further, I've found the perfect gift! How about a pair of shoes? Not only very original, you know for sure that the father of your kids or your own father will be trendy from now on. Many men pay little or no attention to the shoes they walk on. As long as it's comfortable (yes, that's very important indeed) and a bit reasonably priced, then it's all right. The fact that sneakers under trousers may be slightly less appropriate or that those smart shoes do not completely match the sporty outfit will be a problem for many men.
As a woman, you naturally pay attention to your complete outfit. Not a hair on your head that would wear mismatched shoes. Your outfit is emphasized by the perfect shoes. So, do you want to buy a good Father's Day gift? Then choose shoes. All you need is your father's shoe size. That's not that hard to figure out. In addition, if the shoes unexpectedly do not fit, there is always the option to exchange them.
I myself have found a pair of very fashionable shoes at Aurelien. There they sell timeless shoes for men (and women). The Dutch brand has an Italian style that makes the shoes real eye-catchers. Stylish and at the same time so suitable for summer that every man should buy a pair of shoes here.
These blue yacht loafers are stylish without being too noticeable. What is striking is the white sole, which contrasts nicely with the navy blue suede. The shoes fit well (it takes some getting used to, because they seemed too narrow at first, but have to be widened) and feel soft. The sole is sturdy and bends well, making it ideal for walking for a few hours. It's the perfect summer pair that goes with everything.
Father's Day is celebrated every year on the third day in June in the Netherlands. That means that just like Mother's Day, the day is celebrated on a different date every year. For 2020, June 21 is Father's Day. Below you will find the Father's Day dates for the next 5 years:
Father's Day 2021:June 20
Father's Day 2022:June 19th
Father's Day 2023:June 18th
Father's Day 2024:June 16th
Father's Day 2025:June 15
Like Mother's Day, Father's Day also originated in the United States. There, the Day to Celebrate Fathers was created by Sonora Smart Dodd. That happened in the year 1909. The day was not just thought of, it got its inspiration from Anna Jarvis, who had previously conceived Mother's Day as a tribute to her mother.
For Sonora, Father's Day was nothing more than a tribute to her father, a former Civil War veteran. After the birth of his sixth child, his wife died and he became a widower. Despite all the setbacks, he did not give up, but took care of his family. So as a thank you, his daughter thought up a special day for him. This was Father's Day.
Although national calls were made for the introduction of Father's Day as early as 1924, it would take until 1972 in the US before this day really broke through nationally. As is sometimes the case with ideas, the idea of a special day for all fathers had already come to the Netherlands in one way or another. In the Netherlands, Father's Day became already in 1937. However, the celebration of Father's Day in June was not formalized until 1948.
Of course, the fact that a special day has been created for all fathers does not mean that it is celebrated on the same day worldwide. In fact, there are big differences in the days on which Father's Day is celebrated. As far as our neighboring country Belgium is concerned, there is little difference. There is only a week in between, as our neighbors celebrate Father's Day on the second Sunday in June. In other countries, however, completely different days are held. For example, Father's Day in Switzerland is celebrated on the first Sunday of June, while in Taiwan it continues on August 8th.
What do you give the father of your children or your own father for Father's Day?
