Every parent who is (or has been) in the kindergarten phase knows why toddlers are such fun and special creatures, but I'll give you a tip. Maybe you have even more reasons why you like toddlers!
Toddlers have a sense of humor. They can laugh a lot at simple jokes or puns and are sometimes very humorous. Funny rhymes or simple jokes, it's all laughing vultures roar. And woe betide if my daughter has a girlfriend to play, then it is fun to laugh and howl, they have such fun with each other about the simplest jokes. Toddlers are fun, yes, and so are their jokes!
I think it's great to see that my daughter is constantly looking for new things. She knows the numbers by now and is also starting to recognize letters. She is thrilled to be able to write her own name and is very interested in kindergarten books with educational games.
Did you know everything about your toddler that he or she had done, you just have to guess about your toddler. No more a kindergarten teacher telling you how your child's day has been and you just have to wait and see if he or she feels like talking. I really got used to it in the beginning. But now that Laura has been at school for more than a year, I see that she has really taken on a life of her own at school, the after-school care and with play dates with friends. And don't forget the children's parties, that is really the highlight in a toddler's life!
Having a conversation with a toddler is very difficult. You just have to wait and see what comes in and until she gets through. With toddlers, on the other hand, you can already have a real conversation. They can make themselves clear. I really like that!
My little girl sometimes seems like a philosopher and she sometimes asks such sharp questions. “Mommy, why are people dying?” It'll take a while, I'll have to think about that for a while. Or:“Why do we actually eat a fish or animal?” It's unbelievable how these little ones are already thinking about all kinds of life questions!
Our little girl was always standing next to our bed at half past five to ask:“Are you awake mom and dad yet?” She has now learned to sleep a little longer until no less than half past seven. It's nice to have about an hour, but it's still an early bird. Anyway, at least then you will have something to do with your day 😉 .
Toddlers are fun and creative. Not only do they get better at crafting, drawing and cutting and pasting. They are also very good at coming up with solutions and being creative in their playing behaviour.
I think this is one of the best qualities of a toddler. As a toddler, Laura always found it difficult to entertain herself. She wanted to play together all day long. Nice, but hey, I have more to do little girl! She is now getting better at playing herself. Moreover, she can and can now play outside near us, which she really enjoys doing and which is also very healthy.
"Mommy I think you're stupid!" or if I'm angry with her or if she doesn't like me:“I like daddy much better!” Nice and direct and clear indeed, you immediately know where you stand.
It is so nice to see what toddlers come up with in their play. "Shall we pretend you're the dog and I'm the cat?" or “Then you are the big brother and I am the little sister. And then I ran away and was lost and then you came looking for me.” When Laura plays with a girlfriend or boyfriend, they experience the greatest adventures and the worst things happen. But luckily it always turns out well. What a rich fantasy these toddlers have!
Most toddlers love to run around, cycle, climb and jump. Go to the woods or to a playground and they will let loose. It always makes me happy when Laura is so sporty.
The best thing about a toddler in the house is that they can be very sweet. “Mommy you are the sweetest”, or “Mommy I love you so much” with a big hug around your neck. I love it! Aren't these the most beautiful moments in the life of a preschool mother?
