Big atmosphere and party until the end of the night on the Valentine's Day program in South Africa:Indeed, dinners, balls and long evenings in nightclubs are organized. In some high schools, there is even a "Miss &Mister Valentine's Day" election with sometimes auctions for the honor of slow dancing with the Valentine or the Valentin of the evening, and the prices can climb very high!
The old traditions continue all the same since on this day, the custom wants that the women pin on their sleeves the name of their darling.
In the States, this holiday is also very popular. But it does not only celebrate love or the couple but affection in general, family, friendship and community. It is a day during which we express love towards our neighbor, moreover, the children actively participate in this event with shows at school but also by making small gifts that they can give to the people they love (parents, friends, teachers…) A tradition that begins at an early age!
There is a purely symbolic tradition that says that the first person of the opposite sex that we meet by chance on February 14 becomes our Valentine. There is nothing mandatory but if we like the person, we can always send the message to him during a dinner or by giving him a small gift. Sometimes chance does things well!
Every year in Finland, on February 14, the "women's lift" championship takes place. It is an obstacle course in which couples compete and the husband must carry his wife on his back until the end. The winner of the race wins the weight of his sweetheart… In beer! That's a crazy Valentine's Day!
At least after that, you are almost certain that your relationship can withstand anything (or almost)!
Forbidden Valentine's Day
This is the case in Saudi Arabia since some governments being very opposed to Western influence, have made Valentine's Day illegal since 2008... On February 14, shops are therefore prohibited from selling flowers, chocolates or even greeting cards, and women who would have the misfortune of wearing red that day are stopped by the authorities…
So even if for some in France, Valentine's Day is above all a commercial pretext, you still have to savor the simple fact that those who want to celebrate it have the freedom to do so!
