Given the context, I must admit that until the last moment, we preferred not to believe it too much, but for our greatest pleasure, as you can imagine, we were able to leave and spend a short week on the island of 'Andros in Greece mid-July. Surprisingly, the teenagers wanted to come with us… well?! Strange… a week of family vacation in the sun!
I wanted to leave a trace here of this beautiful week in Andros, I really had a hard time decompressing, it took me 2 or 3 days to really realize but it was good. Beautiful. Hot. Peaceful. A week without shopping, meals, without having to calculate, organize anything. Just to be guided by our friends that we joined there and who have known the area for 30 years! You can guess how much I liked it.
To leave, negative PCR tests of course, to return to Greece you also had to have filled out an application beforehand (obviously, I had no idea of the existence of this document so, we had to miss the flight but phew, I keep it short, but my "punishment" will have been to simply retake a test on arrival at Athens airport - we've seen worse eh). For the return, we made an appointment in a laboratory for antigenic tests (that was enough) 48 hours before our flight. Nickel. Nothing to report on the spot, but it was still July, the measures tightened a little afterwards.
Andros is one of the less touristy Greek islands, and that's good. We met mainly Greeks on vacation, Athenians on weekends (it's 2 hours by ferry) and a few French people, often locals from elsewhere. Oh if I saw an American!! Crazy (it's crazy how a little nothing has become important for 18 months…)
Contrary to usual, we did NOTHING. NOTHING visited. NOTHING screwed up except sleeping, eating (really well), hanging out, bathing, walking to go to the village to eat (and drink), walk again to return to the hotel. TATIN. When I tell you that it was a parenthesis out of time!
For the hotel, I highly recommend it if you like "small family structures", access to a small semi-private beach, no catering at lunchtime (apart from a micro snack but good blah blah) or in the evening, the Batsi village is a pleasant 15 minute walk away. And there is a tavern perfect for lunches 3 minutes walk away.
I leave you with some photos, perfect timing for this start of the school year (signed by the girl who writes her articles 2 months later)
