I think you know it, I often repeat it for the 3 in the back who don't follow anything:the kitchen remains my worst nightmare (I think the name of the well-known TV show comes from there by the way, without pretension ). I don't like to cook, especially for everyday life. Namely 99% of the time.
Great. Very practical.
I tried…really. In vain.
I put moms who make "menus" for the week, with the shopping list built in, on the top step of a podium I placed at the top of the Himalayas. Here, just the idea I develop incredible hives. I am allergic to this anticipation. I'm the one who wonders what to eat 15 minutes before time and ends up bringing out a sublime plate of pasta (I buy some excellent ones though and of several kinds to VARY - lolilol) with steamed vegetables / tomato sauce HOME (yes, all is not lost)
I tried to make a mini (micro) book of easy "recipes" that I know how to do to have them in mind and be tempted to add more.
hmm
And then my saviors tumbled onto the market:meal boxes (or baskets)! I had tested QuiToque, for example, which is pretty good. I was disappointed only by the quality of the meat. So, I had turned to the vegetarian offer, when I am not. This time, it was a teacher who offered me to test (for free! Thank you!!) his basket box:Professor Ciboulette. This time the recipe basket is 100% organic. We are close to perfection on paper. So I was eager to test.
Same principle as the other boxes, we receive EVERYTHING to cook about 4 meals. We thus have 1 meat dish + 1 fish dish + 2 vegetable dishes. When I say everything, that's it:the spices in small plastic jars, the aromatic herbs, the meat, the vegetables, the fish, the fresh cream, the portion of soy sauce. EVERYTHING. Basically, I just had to use my salt, my pepper, my (elbow) grease. I had chosen the "4 people" version knowing that now the children here eat (thanks growth) almost as much as we do. But you can order a box for 2 and up to 5 people.
The "fresh" box is delivered to your home on a 2-hour slot in Paris but also throughout FRANCE. (yes I'm screaming)
Let's talk price right away. The box for 4 people is €115 (which is roughly €7 for a meal for 1 person) I think it speaks better when you relate to the cost of a meal. So, sincerely, in my opinion, it's not excessive at all, knowing, I repeat (call me mamie zinzin), that these are ORGANIC products.
In the box of course, there are also 4 recipes PERFECTLY explained. This detail is important, because having seen approximate recipes, I find that for a loser like me, it's really nice to be able to follow/understand without taking your little Robert out of the kitchen.
Another very positive point for Professor Ciboulette (can it be seen that I am very delighted?), is that the preparation time for the recipes is voluntarily limited to 15 minutes.
15 minutes.
There you have it, a teacher who knows how to talk to active (and lazy) women like me.
FINALLY
So I tested all of that. I requested the delivery of my basket/cardboard/box, in short, of my saviour, the day of my return from Guadeloupe.
Aside:notice the goofy organization! I knew that the fridge would be empty, that I would be tired but above all that I would not have time at all to go shopping.
Furthermore, I think that to get over the blues on the way back (it was 1 degree damn good), it's nice to tell yourself that you're going to eat well the first night.
I let you look at the photos of my plates on my instagram account?
I am really convinced. I enjoyed preparing these 4 meals, it's really fast.
If I have to find any negatives to the concept, I would say that of course, since the kids aren't a fan of "strange" vegetables (like asparagus and fennel), not everything goes SO well with them. Well, there's always a way to work it out and heck, you have to give them a taste, right?
