My daughter and little guy both have birthdays in the same month. One on the 21st the other on the 25th (January). So that means making double birthday invitations! The first year we celebrated the birthdays separately, but last year we celebrated this together. This was much nicer. All the hustle and bustle in one day and all the preparations once. Well…..once?! We do double making the birthday invitations ourselves 😉, because both kids would of course want their own invitation. In addition to all the children's party ideas I have, I also really enjoy doing this myself.

I always make (read:crafts) the invitations for the birthdays myself. I have already made the following for my daughter:1st year:Pip, 2nd year:Winnie the Pooh and (for guests or) Tigger, 3rd year:Hello Kitty 4th year:Olaf and 5th year:hand mirror (the same one that Princesses have) .
For little guy:1 year:Woezel and 2nd year:Jokie. For this year I chose my daughter Botje (that fish from Ariel the Little Mermaid) and little guy Paw Patrol.
Well in time, I'm sure you understand that. Even though the children's birthday is (only) in January, I always start thinking about and making a template for the invitations in the summer. Then I have enough time and I don't have to work at the last minute to make them. We always hand out the invitations during Christmas and New Year's Eve. Then we see almost everyone in the family all the time, so that's very handy to do. Especially to relatives who live far away.
Whatever time your birthday is… make sure you start making the birthday invitations yourself at least a month in advance. This way you can pick up everything in peace and have you forgotten something? Then there is still time enough to get it in the store, for example.
I already wanted to do the idea for my daughter's birthday invitation last year. Then my daughter wanted something different and it eventually became a hand mirror of a princess. Also nice 😉 , but this year it will be Botje.

When making birthday invitations yourself, start by finding a good image of Botje on the internet. Print this out once, cut it out and trace the outside lines on a cardboard. I myself use cardboard from a box or sturdy cardboard that is sometimes folded in new clothing. This will be my template.
Then you trace this template several times on a sheet of yellow cardboard (4 Bones per A4). Then you draw the lines in the yellow Bones with a pencil and then trace them with a fineliner. You can use foam rubber instead of the cardboard; this makes the birthday invitations even better and the chance of breaking down is smaller.
To color the blue of Botje, I chose glitter. Well, me, on behalf of my daughter of course. With glitter glue you can easily color the blue surfaces of Botje (or let your daughter do it herself). Then let it dry well. The details of the children's party will be on the back.
It's that simple! You can of course make the birthday invitation as beautiful as you want, or have it decorated by your child, even more fun!
The same applies to Paw Patrol as to Botje. You can of course make many different birthday invitations yourself this way.
For the Paw Patrol emblem I needed several templates:for the outer shield, the inner shield and the paw print. I also got the dogs off the internet and cut them out. And of course this is a PAW-TY instead of Party 😉 . On this “design” it is also possible to state the age first, for example. The rest of the details of the party will also be on the back here.

We found the above birthday invitation on Etsy, but it is also easy to make yourself. You will need a card, red and black paper, and white paper for the ladybug's body. When making these birthday invitations yourself, you can choose to print the details for the party, or you can write them.

These ice creams are also great fun, to make and to get 😉 . You can make a nice variety of ice creams for the birthday invitations and of course you use real ice cream sticks to finish it off nicely. Inside the ice cream you can lose all the details of the party.
You make these slippers by drawing the shape of a slipper twice and cutting it out on different paper. Cut the inner shape a bit smaller so that you get a nice whole as above. Use ribbons for the flip-flops itself and finish with a nice button or flower. Of course the flowers are preferred, they are very cheerful.
