It's Spring... And it's time to make your small plantations.
Wondering how you're going to keep the kids busy?
Do not move ! I have a great idea for you;-)
Here's a smart way to keep kids busy with eggs and gardening, even indoors!
It is enough to build a mini vegetable garden in eggshells. It will delight the little ones! Watch:
- 6 eggshells empty
- 1 empty egg box
- 1 teaspoon
- earth
- seeds of parsley, chives, mint, basil or other aromatic plants
1 . When cracking your eggs to make an omelette or soft-boiled eggs, keep the shells high enough so that they make tall little containers.
2 . Wash them and put them back in the box.
3. Fill the shells with soil or potting soil, using a small spoon.
4 . Sow different seeds in each shell:you can write the name in marker on the shells to remember what you put in them!
5 . Water a little (every other day) and place your mini-garden in the light... and wait for it to grow!
And there you have it, you have made a small vegetable garden out of eggshells :-)
It's an easy DIY that I tested with my kindergarten students :the children watched them with enthusiasm.
They were very proud to bring them home (for Mother's Day for example) before harvesting herbs to put in all their dishes.
Chives and mint grow particularly well.
And this activity is perfect if the weather is not good for playing outside.
