You are a militant of romanticism, a notion that is somewhat lost... Do you want your music to inspire the men of today?
D.B:Romanticism reflects a certain sensitivity. I am aware that this notion is gradually being lost, but we must resist, fight. Besides, my album "the last romantic" evokes this subject. I would not go so far as to say that I wish to inspire the men of today. I prefer to be interested in women, I like to dialogue with them, their spirit, their fragility and their great strength inspire me. I wrote a song in 2001 called "As Long as There Are Women" which is a hymn to the new place of women in society. I'm not sure that makes me a fan of romanticism, but in any case, women inspire me. I will never deny it.
France now has around 18 million single people. In your opinion, how can a woman find her soul mate?
DB:I gave a rough answer in my new single:"It's love that leads us along the paths it has chosen, no need to look for it, it will find you" . The encounter is a mystery that only chance disposes of. This is also what joins romanticism:first of all, we enjoy together, then, we start a family. However, at the beginning of their love life, women tend to choose the problems, men who will not make them happy, but men to whom they will tirelessly cling. This is part of romanticism, they think that by suffering, they are experiencing something big, intense, that their heart beats a little stronger every day, but that is a mistake! It's also a theme that I tackled in my new album:"Why do you say no to those who love you? ". I tell the story of a woman who chooses a man who made her suffer rather than a man who could fill her with love and tenderness. As long as we don't love ourselves, we attract people who love themselves through us...
Can you give us your secrets for seducing a man?
D.B:A man needs to feel his importance, to be admired, to know that he brings protection, comfort to his better half. But, be careful, he must not feel trapped. The woman he will like is the one with whom he feels he can grow personally while helping her grow. The beautiful love story is the one where you keep the right distance:neither too far nor too close.
You are a timeless gentleman. What does Valentine's Day mean to you?
D.B:Do we need a party for lovers, New Year's Day to celebrate joy, Christmas to give gifts? Not really. However, we need rites, landmarks in the year that are appointments. If it allows us to have attention for our loved ones, why not.
What's the best Valentine's Day gift you've ever received? And that you offered?
D.B:The most beautiful Valentine's Day gift that I have received and at the same time given, are my children. The purpose of love is not only to find an antidote to loneliness, but to give birth to a common work:a child.
If you had to choose between the love of the public or the love of one and only one person, which one would you choose?
D.B:I often had competition between the job I practiced and my sentimental stories. I have always been forced to choose.
Once again, life is an evolution, if you give up a job for love, for a woman, but you continue to evolve through this relationship why not. If you feel regret all the time, then that choice is a mistake. This is why the most beautiful definition of love remains that described by Jean Anouilh “To love is to both look in the same direction”
I don't need to choose between music and love because music is love and vice versa:love is music. Dany Brillant is making a comeback for his 25 years of Career.
