It's true, family vacations are organized weeks or even months in advance, especially if children will be traveling. Yet on a whim, we happened to go on an improvised cruise in Germany.
Germany is one of my favorite tourist destinations. I never tire of visiting this very cosmopolitan country. And for our umpteenth stay, we decide to get off the beaten track this time. That's why we opted for a river cruise on two of the most important German rivers, the Havel and the Elde.
However, as I was accompanied by my small family, I had no desire to be surrounded by other tourists and vacationers. I wanted to share privileged moments with my children and my spouse in intimacy. To do this, I had no choice but to turn to boat rental. I contacted Nicols, a French company that was highly recommended to me on the forums. And I did really well by using this company. Their sailing boats, at least in the summer range, were spacious, but above all equipped with a hand shower and a ladder for swimming, if necessary.
To rent the habitable floating palaces of Nicols, you have the choice between two ports which are Wustrau and Lübz. My advice ? If you have time, do not hesitate to take boat trips from these two nautical bases. We did it and we really had a very exotic and unforgettable family vacation.
Nevertheless, being above all a lover of monuments and tourist sites, I fell in love with the Mecklenburg region. To my delight, Lübz is a city particularly rich in historical, archaeological and cultural heritage. I really enjoyed myself by going, for example, to the house of the bailiwick and discovering all the half-timbered houses, including the mill. The main attraction of the city is still its Planetarium. Otherwise, if you want to visit the oldest religious building in Mecklenburg, you have to make a short stopover in Kuppentin.
And if, like my children, you are rather looking for contact with nature, Brandenburg is the destination par excellence for ecotourism and adventure stays, since it offers two Nature Parks. Indeed, this region is full of natural sites, wild creeks and lakes like those of Ruppin. So, while part of my family was learning the joys of fishing, I took the opportunity to go for a bike ride.
Finally, before planning your cruise, first check the availability of boats, especially in high tourist season. Book in advance, if possible.
