Organizing a slumber party? Tips for a cool slumber party!

In a crazy mood I organized something again. A slumber party this time. For Lotte and her friends during the Christmas holidays. And what a party that was. The girls couldn't talk about anything but our slumber party for weeks. And I knew that night. Do you also want to organize a great slumber party? Then read on because I have some super fun ideas for your party.

Organize a slumber party, what do you need?

Basically not much. You can go a long way with a number of air mattresses, of course. But if you really want to organize a memorable slumber party, then it is smart to read on. Lotte and her 6 friends really enjoyed this slumber party, and I didn't even have to do that much for it. Good thing this time too, because after December I was a bit done with organizing.

In this case I was largely relieved by the Popupandparty tent camp for this slumber party. I chose the Woodland theme because - even though it may be a boy theme - I thought it fit perfectly with a girls night for girls aged 8/9. An exciting slumber party with a campfire, what more could you want?

A slumber party in the Woodland theme

The tents come from Popupandparty as indicated. On the agreed day and time, a complete package will be delivered by Anne herself, one of the owners of this website. Anne and Ratna are the brains behind this way of organizing a slumber party. By offering a slumber party in style, including tents, air mattresses, duvets with covers, accompanying pillows and accessories, you will be completely unburdened. And the result is stunning!

I was already very happy with the idea and during the build it only became more. When I saw the happy faces on arrival, my evening couldn't go wrong.

Setting up the tents

The Man here was still at work so building the whole thing fell to me. Now I really don't have two left hands, but I was wondering if I could pull this off. Building seven tents for those chicks seems like a lot, but Anne assured me that it's a piece of cake. And she's right.

Yes, you have to put in some time, but in about 45 minutes I had (with a little help) seven tents for the slumber party. All air mattresses inflated (with supplied pump) and also the sleeping places are completely 'dressed'. The advantage is of course that the duvets and pillows are already nicely delivered in large bags at the demolition. All you have to do is take it out and you're done.

Accessories for a complete look and feel of the slumber party

The best part is, of course, decorating. With all the accompanying accessories you can turn it into a cozy theme party in no time. The Woodland theme has sheep skins, cow skins, a deer and a moose on the wall (all fake of course). Further decoration in the form of lanterns, wooden signposts and a real campfire complete this slumber party.

Picnic basket for the next day

The accessories also include a stylish picnic basket. Of course this is not filled, because everyone uses this in their own way. We just got some nice fries with snacks. But the tablecloth and matching plates and cups also made the dining table part of the theme.

If you're having a party in the summer, it's nice to have a picnic outside, for example.

What did we do during the slumber party?

Daughter had of course already thought of what she wanted to do. First chat with all the girls, then eat fries and then watch a nice movie together. With popcorn.

And before then I had already thought about how we were going to do it. All three of us (Frank, Luc and I) would go upstairs in time so that the girls would have the idea 'early' that the evening started. The earlier they start in the evening, the faster they 'drop out' and go to sleep, I thought.

Not so.

At 9.30 pm all three of us were upstairs in our bedrooms and Lotte and her friends could really start the slumber party. Wrapped up in pajamas and brushing all their teeth, the girls crawled into their own tent.

Party time!

What time did they go to sleep? The last one at 01.45 , after I had already walked down 5 times that it had to be really quiet now. What an advantage I have 😉 .

#not.

In the end I was only able to close my eyes at 03.30 am because the dog was still very restless and kept me awake all the time. Luckily it was still vacation!

The most exciting stories

I didn't have to do anything about this myself, because they had decided to take turns telling an exciting story. But if they don't think of it themselves, you could tell a story yourself, or read a book.

So here they set to work themselves, listen…

What can you do to make the slumber party run smoothly?

I have tried to interfere as little as possible in the proceedings. I can still remember all too well how I used to think about these kind of slumber parties. The number one priority for me was that Lotte would have the same experience.

We did, however, implement a few small things to ensure that bickering did not arise in advance. You know how girls are, right?

  1. Numbers on the tents and draw a number to see which tent you sleep in.
  2. Make sure you have a game on hand, they played hide and seek here, which causes some mess and hectic, but it was fun.
  3. Don't be too difficult with dinner. Fries or pancakes and every child is happy. Healthy again tomorrow.
  4. For breakfast you just get some loaves of bread at home. You undoubtedly have something in your house and gone =gone.
  5. Don't get involved in any discussion right away. Children are perfectly capable of looking for solutions themselves, it is often the adults who have difficulty with it.
  6. Let go of bedtime for children; you won't succeed.
  7. Relax and enjoy, then it will remain fun for yourself too!
