The horse racing season has restarted recently. Last Sunday, we went to the Longchamp racecourse as part of the “Dimanches au galop“.

Without further ado, we detail the whole program in this article.
Located in the southwest of Paris, near the Bois de Boulogne, the racecourse is located in a green area. Here, we are far from the suffocating density of the capital. The Sunday sportsmen are out. Cyclists, runners, but also hikers take advantage of this place and the surrounding lakes to breathe fresh air.
It is noon, we arrive by car (unfortunately the transport option was not easily possible for us for this family outing). Rather complicated to find the racetrack car park, so we park nearby. That said, the car park (outside but directly connected to the racecourse) remains the most practical option if you come by car.
Little waiting to get in, a security guard does a usual check of the bags for everyone's safety. The day starts well 🙂
Sundays at the gallop are organized by France Galop, and are an event for families.
Perhaps to rejuvenate the image of the races, the bobo and a little elitist side that we can have.
However, on site, the atmosphere is pleasant, the organization is rather well managed and all audiences are represented.
There is the seasoned bettor, fan of horse racing with his horse racing journal under his arm, and glasses that hide an expert look.
There is the professional, in a suit that stands out in this place on a sunny Sunday. Among the professionals, some are there to buy horses.
There is of course all the staff without whom the races could not function (those who repair the race track after each passage of the horses using large masses.
There are the families, who have come for an outdoor outing for the children, as much (or even more) interested in entertainment than in horse racing.
All this little world takes advantage of the tranquility of the place and mixes, especially around the food trucks.
A few restaurant trucks (food trucks in English, it goes better) are arranged on the beautiful manicured lawn.
Here is the menu of the day:
Overall quality is fair, prices relatively high but acceptable for location and convenience.
We will simply regret the waiting time at each stand (many people).
An extra food truck or 2 could improve the experience.
Note that a picnic area has been set up and it is therefore possible to bring your own meal without any problem.
Many activities are offered for children:
And even a real children's race around 4:30 p.m. on the track!
In short, everything you need to have a great day!
Do you know anything about sports betting? We neither ! Well this is the ideal place to make your first sports bets. PMU agents are there to explain to us the operation (not so simple) and take the bets.
The starting bet is €2.
We bet on 2 horses in a first race (lost!) and on another horse in the next race (again lost!). Nice anyway!
For the race itself, it goes very fast and difficult to distinguish the numbers of the horses at a glance.
Very good experience, we were delighted with our day at the Longchamp racecourse. Ideal for a family outing on a Sunday, when the weather is nice. We won't go every Sunday, but it's an interesting outing from time to time, with family and/or friends (especially if they like sports betting). And what's more, it's free for the little ones!
To win the tickets (5×2 people), it's very simple:
GOGOGOOGO for comments and shares!! 🙂
It's still the holidays, take the opportunity to go on a family outing!!
