Homework help:a fun and economical solution

As an active mom, my children's homework is a real daily concern and sometimes it becomes the delicate subject of the end of the weekend. I don't know about you, but I've often noticed much too late, on Sunday afternoons, that homework wasn't done! By dint of getting angry and also talking about it to the other mothers around me, a solution was imposed:recruit someone to help with homework.

Help to simplify everyday life without breaking the bank

Employing someone to help and watch over my children after school is an ideal solution, both for me, which frees me from this often tense moment with the children, and for them, who often benefit from more appropriate assistance (students).

A solution that is all the more interesting as home employment benefits from state aid. In fact, as part of the development of personal services, in 2006 the government set up the Chèque Emploi Service Universel (CESU). This system allows individuals to become an employer with ease...follow the guide!

Homework help:a fun and economical solution

The CESU, what is it?

The Cesu is a way to pay your employee at home legally and in compliance with the labor code. It is a security for the individual who thus declares the hours worked to have their children looked after or to employ a person who will help them with their homework.

How does it work?

By joining the CESU (www.cesu.urssaf.fr), you receive a checkbook which contains a social section. All you have to do is complete it and send it back to the organization that manages all the administrative formalities relating to home employment:the Center National du Chèque Emploi Service. This social component represents the employee's declaration of employment. It is also this organization that will be responsible for:

  • Send the employee their certificate of employment
  • Creating payslips
  • Calculate social contributions and debit them from my bank account

Tax advantages

I was also entitled to a tax reduction which represents 50% of the sums I spent (contributions and salary). No worries about calculating my tax credit, the tax certificate is available directly in my personal space on the URSSAF internet.

The icing on the cake, all the formalities relating to the employment of my employee at home can be carried out online on the site. A real time saver, for me who is always in a hurry, and the assurance of not making mistakes since I am guided throughout the formalities to be completed.

For more information, I also recommend the Particulier Employeur Zen site, which will guide you as to the steps to be taken in the context of hiring a CESU, and which will help you in particular to calculate the cost of employment at home (this which, at first, is rather useful!).

I also cannot recommend their official document packs enough, which make life much easier (see the hiring pack, very well done and oh so useful for the particular novice employer).
